All I’ve had to drink today is coffee and alcohol

@hugo non-free apps (put app at work is GPL tho) can offer some benefits to volunteers like free subscriptions or promotion codes or something like that. When it's OSS it's easier of course. I didn't realize about which apps you've been talking about first.

I haven't made much progress with recently, apart from registering the domain names and setting up app redirects. Still a lot to do..

I'm heading to a conference on Saturday, so maybe I'll have a bit of time there to smash out some tasks.

The biggest thing I need to add before giving out a beta will be an API for app client credentials, so the app doesn't have to store individual client credentials for every instance it tries to connect to... Might be a better way to approach this tho

I think I also just like the simplicity a bit more, I'd rather see a single timeline at once rather than the *deck view, a lot of the time. Simpler is better ;)

I'm just trying out Pinafore for Mastodon and wow is it so much faster than the default (at least on my Surface Go!)

I expect the biggest hurdle is finding someone who’ll translate your app. If you’re capable of translation, reach out to app developers whose apps you like and offer to translate their app β€” who knows, maybe they’ll be keen on putting in the extra work!

Most apps from larger companies (e.g. Spotify) have great translations, bar a few less used parts of the app, but most of my favourite indie apps rarely have any localisation at all.

It can be really costly to support other languages, and I doubt it nets much extra profit, but it’d be nice to see devs putting in the extra effort.

I changed the default language on my phone to French, and the sheer number of apps that just don’t support localisation at all is huge

I kind of want to get a Pixel 3 to take a look at all the beautiful Material apps again, I really miss them. When implemented well it seemed perfect! PocketCasts was probably one of my favourites

The MX Ergo is a very good portable mouse tbh. Being a trackball means it doesn't have to move. And it's Bluetooth.

You can just put in on an armrest wherever you are and keep the laptop in your lap.

Friend: Are you OK? You haven't posted on Instagram in ages
Me: I quit FB, Instagram, and Twitter.
Friend: Why'd you quit the internet?
Me: Actually I've *rejoined* the Internet.

Next time someone asked me why did I leave the internet, I'm gonna say I'm still very much on the Internet. When are *you* coming back?
